Bonnie Bat Fund

Bonnie the big brown bat died in her sleep on August 5, 2009. Bonnie had a malignant tumor removed from her neck in June 2008, but recovered and continued to participate in bat programs until a few weeks before her death. Bonnie joined Pat Brown in May 1992 when Pat had to remove her from a mine being closed for renewed mining, On the basis of tooth wear, she was less than 5 years old at the time. Through classes and programs, gentle Bonnie introduced thousands of adults and children to the wonderful world of bats. She never tried to bite, and rarely emitted an irritation buzz. She also appeared on the Jay Leno Show, Nickelodeon and Beekman's World. To honor Bonnie's memory and continue her legacy of bat education, contributions can be made to the Western Bat Working Group Bonnie Bat Education Fund
